November Recap

Brian DetrickUncategorized

November has quickly come to an end. It was a great month that involved a lot of activities. Some of them, like the Celebrity Basketball Tournament, I have already posted about so I won’t duplicate anything.

I started out the month by joining the Movember movement to help raise awareness for men’s prostate cancer and men’s health in general. Below you will see the final pic on the last day of the month as well as each weeks progress as I grew out my moustache; otherwise known as my Mo. It was fun while it lasted but it has to go until next year.

I have decided to get my real estate license. I feel it will give me the best opportunity to start a successful career and still have a flexible schedule to pursue my skiing career. I have completed all of the course requirements and have submitted everything to the CA Department of Real Estate. Now just waiting to get approved to take the state exam. I will be teaming up with my mom, Jan, who has been in the business for over 20 years. She has a greatĀ reputation and I am looking forward to working with her. Keep your eye out for more information as we will have some exciting news to share the next month or two.

As for skiing, I am training for the University Worlds which are in Chile, January 12-15. I am looking forward to this great opportunity to represent the U.S. as well as Saint Mary’s College. It will be my first time skiing outside of the country. The skiing is going well despite skiing in a dry suit and the water being below 55. I have started cross training again where I am doing CrossFit and I am starting to feel stronger. I have changed how I am training and it seems to be going well. My body is starting to feel better as well.

Thanksgiving was a little different in the Detrick household this year. We are use to having anywhere from 25-55 people at our home for Thanksgiving. This year was the smallest ever. There were only 8 of us. It was nice to be able to spend some quality, one on one time with some of family members I don’t get to see all the time. I feel next year we will have a big group again. As for the food, I can’t imagine having Thanksgiving anywhere else. My mom makes some of the best dishes; cream corn, stuffing and apple pie to name a few. My brother came up from USC and it was great to spend some time with him. We went to see our alma mater high school play football for the city championships as they were undefeated at 12-0. Unfortunately they lost but it was a great game.

I am looking forward to December as there are many holiday parties planned, Christmas, I will be flying to Orlando to train and hopefully passing the real estate state exam.
