Hey World! I’m now in Tampa, Florida training at McCormick’s Ski School. The water temp is a lot warmer than back home in California. It has been nice to get out of the drysuit and ski in board shorts again. The 2012 FISU University World Water Ski Championships are just around the corner.
Day 1 – I took one ride and just worked on fundamentals and getting the feel of skiing in 70 degree water again. It is a lot different than the 46 degree water I had been skiing in the past 3 weeks. There were some local students that were here to ski as well. I coached 2 11 year old twins that just learned to ski a few weeks ago. They are already ripping! Both are running the course and getting in to 23mph.
Day 2 – I took two rides yesterday. The first one I went up the rope and then went back down the rope to work on technique. Not feeling 100% balanced on the ski right now so I am working on that. The 2nd set I ran a bunch of 32’s and everything started to come together and feel normal. I finished the day with a 4 mile run and a core workout.
Day 3 – Today was a rest and recover day. The body is a little sore so I am let it recover, stretched and did some rehab. I am going to go back to my one day on one day off training program that I have been doing the past few months.
Below are some pictures of McCormick’s site. They have a sweet set up which inclues a cable park that is right next to the ski lake. Talking to some of the riders, this is the best park in the country. They get a lot of the pro riders coming out and people from all over the world. I have some people from Alabama, Illinois, Montreal Canada and Italy to name a few.
Have a great New Years and be safe!!
