Hey World!
Earlier this month I had the opportunity to travel to El Salvador. My hometown, Elk Grove, has a sister city in El Salvador, Concepcion de Ataco. Over the past 2 years, Elk Grove has come together to donate houses, clothes, toys, buses and garbage trucks to help out our brothers and sisters in Ataco. My dad is Vice Mayor of Elk Grove and has been very influential in building this relationship.
This trip was a combination of business and fun. I was there to celebrate the city of Ataco in a weekend long Carnival, a dedication of six newly constructed homes that were donated by the Elk Grove and Laguna Sunrise Rotary’s, a dedication of the new water service to the six homes that were completed 1 year ago, I met with the U.S. Ambassador at the US Embassy in San Salvador and had lunch with the Mayor of San Salvador who is the 2014 Presidential Candidate for the Republican Party. It was interesting to learn that in El Salvador they have the Republican Party, the Communist Party and a new party that was just formed by someone who left the republican party.
For the fun, I learned how to surf, went to a shooting range with the owner of top private security company in the country and at the Carnival in Ataco, I danced on stage with 2 professional dancers as the #1 band in El Salvador performed; Orquesta Platinum and I danced with the Queen of Ataco.
