Crazy Weather/Aussie Open Tournament Info – Australia Update #2

Brian DetrickTravels, Water Ski News

Hey World!

It’s a nice day here at Stoney Park despite the weather being a little weird the last few days. At times it has been sunny and 90 degrees, but then there has also been a few storms that have come in. Check out some of the pictures below. There are some pretty cool morning verse afternoon shots from Monday that were taken by Dan OliverĀ and Chelsea Scott.

I am starting to feel comfortable again on the water. My first couple of sets didn’t go to well. I think I was still jet lagged. I have had 2 good sets in a row and have some confidence going into the weekend. Today is a day off for me after skiing 3 days in a row. My body was starting to ache and my hands were getting a little sore. Remember when your skiing, make sure not to over train. Give your body a few days off and allow it to recover and build up some muscle.

Today I was also asked to do some coaching and driving. I hopped in the boat with Karina and we were in the boat for about 4 hours. Surprisingly, being both slalom experts, most of the skiers were tricking and jumping. It was fun being able to switch things up and coach something other than slalom.

The park is starting to get everything set up and ready for the tournament. The Australian Open is only 3 days away.
Thanks to NBN news station here in Australia, the event is going to be STREAMED LIVE through the world wide web. Click on the photo below and it will take you to the webcast.

Here is the schedule and running orders for the event. We are 19 hours ahead of the west coast. The easiest way to calculate it is subtract 5 hours from your time and then add a day to see what time it is here in AUS. I am estimating that I will ski between 12:30pm-1pm on Saturday. Which would be 5:30pm-6pm on Friday night for the west coast, 8:30pm-9pm on Friday night for the east coast.
